I Thirst For You

Susan Sizemore

Published 2004     352 pages

Synopsis

Josephine Elliot is camping out alone in the Arizona desert, after a terrible accident has left her trying to deal with survivor guilt.  Marcus Cage is a vampire on the run from a group of mad scientists and a rogue government agent looking for the secrets of eternal life.

After being tortured and starved he’s desperately hungry for blood and runs into Josephine while trying to escape recapture.  He is overwhelmed by his thirst for her but instantly recognises her as his bond mate.  He makes her his captive and then sets about trying to make good his escape from the area.  When Josephine unwittingly betrays him to his enemies, they are both placed in grave peril.  Can their newfound love survive or are they doomed to end up as guinea pigs in the laboratory of the mad scientists?

The Review

This novel started off a little slow but soon became more exciting when the bad guys (mad scientists and rogue government agent) made an appearance.  It is still very much a book for readers who love romance novels rather than vampire novels.  When there are currently some great authors who manage to blend supernatural horror and thrills with romance in the vampire genre so well, this one does seem a little flat by comparison.  Still if you like your vampire romances to be more about conventional type romance and less about supernatural fantasy I think you would really enjoy this book.

Note: The first three novels in this series, “I Burn For You”, “I Thirst For You” and “I Hunger For You” are available in an omnibus edition called “Crave The Night”.

Editor’s Choice

Soulless by Gail Carriger

I LOVED this book! It takes the best parts of the urban fantasy, romance, mystery and alternative history genres adds a dash of steampunk, wraps it up in a coating of Victorian sensibility and turns it into something more than the sum of its parts. Fabulous! Read the review.
