Synopsis

Alec Reynard is Prime vampire of the Reynard Clan of vampires (for Prime read alpha male.)  He is currently undergoing secret medical treatments to enable him to walk in the day but the treatments are failing leaving him in danger of turning feral.  He lives a double life working as a bodyguard and, by a twist of fate, when he starts a new job he finally finds his soul mate in the form of Domini Lancer, a fellow bodyguard.

Domini is mortal, yet she is also the one female on earth destined to be his bond mate.  She is in danger from a group of fanatical vampire slayers, who have made her their target, yet with Alec on the edge of turning feral will he be able to overcome his darkest instincts and save Domini or is she in as much danger from him as she is from the vampire slayers?

The Review

This is definitely a book for readers who like romance novels that have a strong alpha male hero.  Alec is a Clan Prime (which is a term for a mature male vampire who comes from the noble do Gooding branch of vampires.)  This makes him a somewhat unrealistic character for those readers (me) who are too cynical to believe in creatures of the night with huge powers running around altruistically doing great deeds for the betterment of humanity.  Whilst he does spend most of the book battling against his dark vampire desires this doesn’t make him any more interesting because he always gets control of his vampire instincts!

The book is more about vampire meets girl romance than vampires, although it does explain a lot about the structure of vampire society in this series of books.  The pace of the book seemed a little odd though because just when things are finally getting exciting, with a battle against the slayers about to happen, the book seems to end really abruptly winding things up in a short chapter.

I recommend this book to hard-core vampire romance readers and think that although the books in this series are all stand alone, I Burn For You makes a good place to start if you want to read this series because it explains so much about the background of the vampire society.

LoveVampires Review Rating: Review Rating: 3 stars out of 5
