Synopsis

In a world where vampires, werewolves, witches and demons rub shoulders with unsuspecting humans there are strict rules of behaviour to ensure that mortal humans never suspect they are not top of the food chain.  The seven pure blood vampire families are also subject to ancient laws that forbid fraternisation between members of the different clans.  For a vampire there is no greater sin than mating outside their own clan and those who break the law are swiftly punished by the Law Keepers.

A girl unlike any other girl, a vampire unlike any other vampire, Prophecy lives life in seclusion until the night she breaks the rules.  Leaving her vampire family mansion to hunt for the first time, she encounters Valentine, a vampire from her family's enemy clan and a man who will change her life forever.

Suddenly at the centre of a prophecy, she is kidnapped by Valentine, the man who should have been her executioner, and forced to run with him in order to save herself.

Required to work together, the tension between Prophecy and Valentine builds as a dark evil threatens to destroy the world.  Prophecy finds she controls a magical power that could change the destiny of the whole world.  As their families and the Law Keepers attempt hunt them down, Prophecy discovers that her feelings for Valentine control her new found power.

When the truth about her is revealed, will Prophecy be strong enough?  Will they discover a way to save the world from Hell?  And will they finally see past the hatred bred into them by their families and surrender to their love?

The Review

Prophecy: Child Of Light is the first book in a trilogy covering the story of Prophecy and Valentine.  The Prophecy trilogy is just the start of a series of stories based in the Vampires Realm world created by e-book author F. E. Heaton.  The Prophecy trilogy alone is of epic proportions with the first book weighing in at 525 pages.

Don’t let the size of the book put you off – the text is large and there is a fair amount of white space on the PDF pages meaning that you don’t have to scroll the pages on even a fairly small computer screen which helps make the book a quick read (sorry, my inner computer nerd just escaped!)  More importantly the story itself is so engrossing that the pages just fly by.

Marketed as a Paranormal Romance I felt that the romance – the relationship between Valentine and Prophecy – was a little slow in developing.  The scope of writing the story over three books allows for a slow burn rather than instant romantic gratification and certainly this is no bad thing.  The pacing of the romance has allowed the author to explore the characters of both Prophecy and Valentine in more detail making them seem more realistic in the process.

The vampires in the Vampires Realm world are a refreshing change from a lot of the vampires populating the pages of paranormal romance today.  They kill humans regularly with little worry about the mortal lives they take.  They are not cruel to their prey - they just treat them like food and don’t have any vampire angst about it.

Prophecy: Child Of Light is not the author’s debut novel, F. E. Heaton has also written several romance e-novels under the name of Felicity Heaton and her experience shows in Prophecy – making it a well thought out and well plotted novel with a huge amount of creative detail going into just this first instalment.

If you are looking for a whole new world of urban fantasy and dark romance this is definitely a novel that you should check out.  Recommended read!

I'd rate this 4.5 stars out of 5 (but I haven't got a graphic to show that!)
